Fayette Footprints
Historic Fayette County Courthouse
The Fayette County Courthouse is almost as old as the county itself, and it served for many years as the oldest operating courthouse in Georgia. But not long after achieving Historical Landmark status, Fayette County almost lost the beloved building, and fire wasn't the only challenge!
Join me in a brief history of the courthouse coupled with my interview with Jerry Barronton, Chairman of the Fayette County Board of Commissioners during the fire and rebuild of our courthouse, and closing with a detailed description by the county on how the courthouse was to be constructed.
